The Jerusalem Council
Acts 15:1-35 The early Church took the purity of the Gospel incredibly seriously. There was then, like now, a constant threat of the purity of the Gospel being eclipsed by self-righteousness and law. While there are certainly debatable doctrinal positions to which Christ’s people hold, the good news that we may be justified through the grace of Jesus alone received by faith alone is of indispensable importance as it relates to pardon from God and eternal life.
1. We must be vigilant for there will always be internal and external threats to the purity of the Gospel.
A. Self-righteousness is a constant threat to the Christian Gospel
2. We must pass on the pure Gospel to those in our spheres of influence.
A. The glory of God and the eternal salvation of otherwise hopeless people is at stake.
