On Light and Love
I John 2:7-11

1. The realm of darkness is characterized by self-interest that damages and divides.
A. Genesis 3-4
B. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. - I Peter 5:8(ESV)
C. Galatians 5-6
D. Ephesians 4-6
E. Philippians 2
F. Colossians 3-4

2. The realm of light is characterized by sacrificial love that heals and unifies.
A. Leviticus 19
B. John 13
C. Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word:
D. “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. - Romans 13:8-10(ESV)
E. But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.
F. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” - Matthew 22:34–40(ESV)
G. Galatians 5-6
H. Ephesians 4-6
I. Philippians 2
J. Colossians 3-4
